James este un baiat englez care a ramas orfan la numai 9 ani si a fost nevoit sa locuiasca cu matusile sale malefice, Spiker si Sponge. Visul lui James este sa ajunga la New York, un oras in care toate dorintele se tranforma in realitate, dupa cum isi aminteste ca i-a povestit tatal sau. Dar norocul lui James ii surade atunci cand il intalneste pe un batran care ii da cateva obiecte fermecate. Cu ajutorul lor, baiatul creste in curte o piersica uriasa ce-i va indeplini dorinta. Odata ce a crescut, James se apropie de piersica, care se deschide, iar baiatul urca in ea si face cunostinta cu noii sai prieteni, niste insecte uriase. Impreuna cu ele el porneste spre New York, intr-o lunga calatorie prin aer si pe mare.Ei ajung pe skyscraperul Empire State, dupa ce trec prin numeroase aventuri. Intampinati ca eroi pe cealalta parte a oceanului, prietenii sai bizari vor reusi sa scape cu ajutorul oamenilor loculuisi de maleficele Spiker si Sponge. Odata stabiliti in Central Park, James si prietenii lui povestesc tuturor trecatorilor, toate aventurile lor.
Nominalizat la Oscar.
